Tacos for lunch with mis amigos
My colleagues and I recently decided to beat our Monday blues at the office by ordering food delivery for lunch. I felt like something different from the ordinary pizza so I suggested we get Mexican food from Amigos! Everyone was on board.
I had a look at the menu online, which is well organised into Burgers, Pizzas, Salads, Nibbles, Tacos, and Desserts sections. Decision No 1: I’m going for Tacos. Into the Tacos inventory, I find 16 varieties of Tacos available – which is great for those among us who do not like to experiment (going for the good ol’ Ham & Cheese; then there are breakfast Tacos, for you know, morning cravings; and then there is the fun stuff – pure Mexican bean, guacamole & beef varieties, amongst others.
I decided to go for the Beef Fajitas Taco (Regular). This was Monday’s lunch after a weekend of indulgent food, so choosing the regular size was wise. It is an OK portion, but I suggest going for a large one on an ordinary lunch or dinner order. The fajita was fresh and the filling was very tasty. The sour cream and herbs really balance out the richness of the minced beef.
My colleague ordered the Caesar Salad, which comes without chicken, but can be added at an extra cost with the option of grilled or crispy chicken. It looked quite fresh and abundant (as you can see in the photos).
Another colleague ordered the Crispy Chicken Fillet Burger, which came with a side of the most beautifully fried chips. Wow those chips were good. The bun was interesting, I suspect made with cornbread and the garlic mayonnaise dressing was yum (I was told!)
A remark for my gluten-intolerant readers, my colleague who is gluten-intolerant fell short of finding suitable options to order for lunch. The online menu isn’t even tagged with allergy markings.
Delivery was quite efficient. The telephone operator was very friendly, even though he broke the bad news that they currently do not deliver to Naxxar (although they plan on opening a store in the area soon, yay!). However, he politely offered the option of meeting the delivery person in Gharghur. I was craving Tacos, so I agreed. The delivery person was also very polite, even though he waited for me to drive to Ghargur. He thanked me for the order and wished me “a nice day”.
All in all, it was a good order. A tad on the pricey side for folks ordering for their daily lunch break (maybe a corporate rate can be introduced?!) but the food really is delicious. Needless to say, mis amigos estaban felices!
